Martin Margiela had been working with found and hand objects with the concept of deconstruction since before he started his own line. The designer tapped into his penchant for re-creation by redesigning a locally relevant tile game, mahjong, for the third anniversary of Maison Martin Margiela in Central, Hong Kong. The Margiela crafted Mahjong Set is washed in Margiela's signature white and the box it comes in is completely clean in white as well. The mahjong lining ruler has "Maison Martin Margiela Hong Kong Central" inscribed on it in black. This specially made mahjong set will be available as a gift for all who spends more than 8,999 HKD at the store on the Fall/Winter 2009 collection. via: HB
While the purchase might be expensive, in traditional Chinese beliefs, one has to give some to get some back, so what better than a little night of tile shuffling with friends to get your money back?
