The cornerstone and pioneer of modern day street skateboarding, Mark Gonzales, not only wowed the world with his groundbreaking ollie (which was later dubbed admiringly, the "Gonz Gap"), and had later branched out to become an artists and writer. His worked had been showcased at the Alleged Gallery in NYC and garnered famous fans such as real estate tycoon Donald Trump and Sean Combs.
Gonzales now fuses his parallel careers into one, putting his art onto a sneaker with a collaboration on adidas Originals Nizza Hi. The classic vintage hi-top model with a sturdy white canvas base not only proves to be hard-wearing, but also the perfect backdrop for Gonzales' signature artwork of painterly strokes. The colorful minimalist spots flank the side of the Nizza Hi, adding an avant-garde vibe to the blue three-stripes. The tongue is also specially done up with an embroidered patch, and the rest of the sneakers are kept clean with white vulcanized gum soles.
Wear your skater on your shoe sleeves and go practice some ollies. Or, just wear them with some slim tailored denim or trousers and let your inner skater shine through. Now available at Concepts.
