An assortment of crowds jam-packed the sidewalks of Rivington Street as ALIFE Presents, along with Kinz + Tillou Fine Art, debuted photographer Clayton Patterson's retrospective last Thursday evening. Titled L.E.S. Captured, the exhibition is a culmination of 30 years Patterson's documentation of Lower East Side, from its hard-edged heady days in the beginning, the migration of the creative class into the neighborhood, to its continue gentrification today. Along with Patterson himself, a rotation of characters, many of whom were subjects in his photos, ducked between the ALIFE Presents space and A.R.C. across the street, where a good old fashion ALIFE Courtyard Party took place, with an ample supply of miniature Colt 45s. Later, the crowd spewed onto the streets and transformed it into an unofficial neighborhood party, with music supplied by Freaky Frige and his customized boombox bike.
The exhibition will be on display at ALIFE Presents event space (across from A.R.C. & ALIFE) on Rivington Street from now till November 8th.
