Japan's swanky house ware maker, Gallery1950, is famed for its swanky kitchen and bathroom mats that instantly bumps up an apartment's cool factor. As such, the company had collaborated with numerous labels such as Supreme, UNDFTD and Stussy to create rugs and coveted knick knacks. Also on the list is long time collaborator, OriginalFake, who had produced a wide range of products varying from the Companion Ashtray to a chomped Circle Cushion, hand towels and even messenger bags. This season, the duo expands upon their non-home goods related collaboration and aims for a cool topper for the chillier spring days. Due to release in January 2010 is the SUKA jacket crafted from World War II limited material archive's acetate rayon, in conjunction with TOYO Enterprise. Acetate Rayon gives the bomber silhouette a smooth vintage feel which is further accented with detailed embroidery created by special machinery which enables even thick embroidered patches to remain flexible and soft to touch. In terms of aesthetics, the bomber has a delicate, worn-in burnished look that are often only spotted on history-laden pieces in thrift stores; the sense of age is then contrasted with the familiar KAWS skull and crosses of the contemporary. A fine topper for the weekend or night, this jacket will be available at Gallery1950 on Jan. 4.
