Riding the popularity of New Wave music during the early 80s, British group DEPECHE MODE never quite achieved the popularity as with some of its peers during the time. However, the band still made an impact on both sides of Atlantic with its melancholy lyrics and somber anthems, which many consider as the forerunner of today's Emo, Goth, and Electro Pop genre. Come 2010, the band will exert its influence once again.
With the help of luxury timepiece maker HUBLOT, a series of 12 watches will be made to commemorate DEPECHE MODE's debut performance at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. Each based on HUBLOT's "Big Bangs" design and will feature graphical representation of DEPECHE MODE's album cover art as the watch face. The special series will then be auction off on a dedicated website in February 2010, with 100% proceeds going toward Teenage Cancer Trust, an organization which assist adolescents and their love ones in dealing with cancer. Currently in the production process, the DEPECHE MODE x HUBLOT - Exculsive "Big Bangs" Watches will make their public debut next month.
