Inspired by German industrial designer Dieter Rams whose work has found its way into modern art museums all over the world including MoMA, Undercover's Jun Takahashi has created a colette exclusive tee which also retains the slightly abject perception of the world Undercover is known for. For those who are unfamiliar with Dieter Rams, the German industrial designer is the brains behind many household electronic products such as coffee makers, calculators, SK-4 record player for Braun and other consumer electrical appliances. Also, he was the Chief of Design for Braun for a good three decades. Taking Rams' cues for simplicity and streamlining products to rid designs of unnecessary frills, Takahashi also incorporates the designer's consumer products into his graphics. Takahashi continues to play with the concept of defacement (one of Undercover's iconic designs is a teddy bear with its eyes censored to create a sense of discomfort in its viewer) and covers a furry bear's eyes and chest with parts from appliances. The tee is now up for pre-order at colette and is due to ship very soon!
