Humberton Leon and Carol Lim's Opening Ceremony had evolved from downtown's quintessential purveyor of cool with a wonderful taste in foreign labels, to a respected tastemaker in the industry and also a solid collaborator. Opening Ceremony is no stranger to collaborations, especially heritage American labels, as its repertoire includes one of America's oldest woven label, Pendleton. After the successful collaboration with Pendleton which had once again brought the label back onto a trendier map, Opening Ceremony has turned to another classic American company, Levi's, for a capsule collection. Due to release very soon next month, the capsule collection will not be focused on Levi's well-known blues, but will instead put a spotlight on corduroy. The labels come together to create a fresh and interesting collection that reinvents the companies' histories. Thus far, the upcoming release includes unisex pants in fine-wale fabrication, corduroy shirt and jean jackets in both denim and corduroy fabrics, and of course, corduroy pants in both men's and women's fits in eight swatches of colors-- navy, fuchsia, teal, lavender, beige, curry, olive and white. The collection is due to launch during fashion week and the look book is shot by celebrated photographer, Ryan McGinley whose portfolio includes NY Times Magazine Oscar Portfolio. This collaboration is not going to be a fleeting one, but a multi-season collaboration. The line will be available not only at Opening Ceremony and Levi's flagship in San Francisco, but also at exclusive wholesale accounts all over the world.
