Last Monday, digital magazine BKRW visited Pharrell Williams when he was in Paris for a quick chat on his latest furniture design project, the "Tank Chair" created with Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin. The Tank Chair is Pharrell's second furniture design project, the first being the Perspective Chair featuring actual rendition of legs for the legs of the chair.
Pharrell discusses the inspiration behind the Tank Chair, where he wants to translate the sense of deciding to go to war and its irreversibility. He twisted the iconic EAMES chair by replacing the chair legs with tank wheels that are stationary (reflecting the irrevocability of deciding to go to war). As previously reported, the Tank Chair comes in four colorways of baby blue, pink, black and white, and the materials range from plexiglas to full grain colt leather. Check out the video done by Jay Smith of Pharrell chatting about the project, the industry and other interesting tidbits such as his design inspiration as an artist (Warhol). And for those who do wish to acquire something refreshing for the apartment, the Tank Chairs will be available at colette between Mar. 22 and Mar. 28.via: BKRW
