For those familiar with Damien Hirst, the off beat artist is not only a record setter (his 2008 two-day auction at Sotheby's in London fetched a jaw-dropping $200 million), but is also famed for his obsession with life, death, the body, the biological and the pharmaceutical. While the artist made a name by preserving animals in formaldehyde, he also has a pharmacy body of work where he works extensively with medical motifs in various prints and installations. His work, Pharmacy, is a room-sized installation which attempts to recreate a real pharmacy while working with four natural elements-- earth, air, fire and water.
Now, those fascinated and admire Hirst's art will not have to search through auctions and fork over large amounts of money to own a piece of his art. The artist has worked exclusively with other criteria to create bespoke pill cufflinks which are derived from Pharmacy. The sterling silver cuff links are made up of two pills, the tab and the capsule and engraved with Hirst's and other criteria's logo. Whoever said art has to be hung and can't be worn on sleeves might have to take their words back. The cufflinks are now available for art aficionados online at other criteria.
