This is certainly not an easy video to describe, suffice to say that it's turntablism fused with futuristic holographic technology. Their initial video, with Chris Cairns at the helm, featured the Scratch Perverts in a high-tech futuristic room. In their first video, the heads were full color renderings, but in this video, called the Holographic Drumkit and Turntables test, we get a glimpse at a live demonstration of the Neurosonics Audiomedical Labs team's work. Manning the turntables is JFB, while Will Clark handles the drums. Experts in holographic imagery, Musion, crafted the visuals. Attached to each turntable and on top of various parts of the drum kit are projected holographic images of a head. When scratched on the turntable, the heads mouth the phrases that JFB is cutting up. When struck on the drums, the heads make different faces and gestures to match the sound, like a beatbox kick drum or a wobblly-headed cymbal. What results is the fractured improvisation of turntablism and progressive film technology. Check out more information about the film at the Neurosonics Audiomedical Labs site.
