It is almost ingrained in the human mind to wander to the waters and hit the roads to the west as soon as spring beaks its way through the cold trough of winter. As such, for urbanites who don't always have ready access to bodies of water or the great Western Americana, they often have to live vicariously through the clothes they wear. As such, nautical and travel influences are thus revived year after year with faithful followers. This spring, DC LIFE taps into the spring wanderlust and brings the maritime touch into its celebrated model, the Admiral. The hi-top classic have been serving feet for seven seasons now and this year it takes on the iconic American summer activity--road trip.
The Admiral's navy Imperial leather upper is inspired by a quintessential road trip imagery--the vintage blue luggage which accompanies travelers on their hitch rides. Aside from the colorway, the Western Americana influence also presents itself in forms of indigenous prints and patterns infused by the natives. The print, Indigenous Moder, used on the satin lining of the Admiral was created by graphic design firm, National Forest. Other details going into these road trip worthy kicks include DC's custom Allen Key Head eyelets, a soft latex foot bed with EVA insert cup sole and sticky rubber outsole bottom featuring DC's trademark Pill Pattern for additional abrasion resistance. Check out the shoes and a shot from DC LIFE's Spring 2010 lookbook featuring the said vintage navy luggage. No doubt this is another great worthy addition to the family of navy colored kicks. The Admiral in Maritime is now available online at DC Shoes for those who are feeling the Americana blues.
