One of, if not the most celebrated sneaker franchise ever, Jordan Brand is commemorating its Silver Anniversary, also known as 25th Anniversary, in 2010. As a part of the year-long festivity, the label along with designers from Nike and Jordan himself have formulated a special Silver Anniversary collection of Air Jordan's scheduled to launch throughout the year. One of the first is Air Jordan III (3) Retro.
First appeared in 1988, the Air Jordan III (3), like each Air Jordan to come before and after, was something to marvel at during the time. Designed by none other than Tinker Hatfield, it was the very first AJ to include the visible air unit at its heel. In addition, the first to be adorned with elephant skin pattern (after a request by MJ himself) and the one where the long Jordan associated Jumpman icon made its debut. However, the 3 will be forever ingrained in our minds with Mars Blackmon, an alter ego created by the then unknown Spike Lee for a Nike TV spot. The Air Jordan III (3) Silver Anniversary (25th Anniversary) Edition is now available at select Jordan retailers and NikeStore.com
