Not just the longest running and most-watched British soap opera, Coronation Street, is also one of the most lucrative on commercial television. For those who are unfamiliar, Coronation Street tells the story of a fictional suburban town named Weatherfield in Manchester, England. The show first aired in 1960. To commemorate the series' epic five-decade run, adidas Originals reworked its popular block party with a Corrie (moniker for Coronation Street) twist on the set of Coronation Street.
The block party is an interesting medley of attendees where stars from Corrie and Hollayoaks and Darth Vader partied to live performances by Badly Drawn Boy, Bad Lieutenant featuring Bernard Sumner of New Order and Stephen Morris from Joy Division, and the Whip. Aside from a great sonic line-up and delicious Trefoil cupcakes, the party also featured a live dance performance from Jazzotech, a DJ set from Craig Charles of Red Dwarf fame and an audio/visual set from Cherrystones made from adidas Originals footage.
Also, adidas Originals ambassadors such as Snoop Dogg and Ian Brown have also recorded special video messages to commemorate the celebratory occasion. Check out photo recaps from the event as well as video clips of Snoop Dogg and Ian Brown for the celebration!
