White Mountaineering BLK - Fall/Winter 2010 Collection Lookbook

Anyone even vaguely following rising stars in independent fashion will be aware of the strong impression made by White Mountaineering, and the collections released since the brand's founding in 2006. Designer Yosuke Aizawa captured the haute mountaineering trend that was already well underway from other fashion shining stars - including Moncler - but he set new benchmarks by combining both cutting edge textile science and couture design into pieces that have been among the most creative anywhere, in any sector of the fashion world. The BLK collection for Fall and Winter 2010 includes a full range of accessories, and incorporates the same high-tech materials the brand has made use of in the past, but it's perfectly obvious that this collection is far different: monochromatically dark, and in many pieces far less structured - evoking some European contemporaries like Damir Doma or Odeur. While we're still looking forward to the more colorful offerings from White Mountaineering, it's good to get a bit of perspective on the eye of designers behind the label, and see that they are open to reinvention in their work.
