In a move sure to be less controversial than "the move," LeBron James is set to star in his own animated series. This Spring, on a dedicated YouTube channel, LeBron, the Miami Heat forward and six-time N.B.A. All-Star, will come to life in "The LeBrons." The series features the four characters from the commercial "The LeBrons" - the wide-eyed young "Kid LeBron;" the jock "Athlete LeBron;" the smooth and savvy Business LeBron; and the crotchety elder statesman "Wise LeBron." In an interview describing the series with the New York Times, Lebron said "I'm mostly a kid at heart...but I also have a business side, a cool side, and I love antique stuff and classical music. I guess that's the old man side of me." For season one, "The LeBrons" will consist of 10 episodes of five to six minutes each, centering on the world of 16-year-old "Kid LeBron" and his life in Akron, Ohio, using authentic locations from that city, where LeBron was born and raised. The series is produced by LeBron's own production company, which is headed by Dan Goodman and Bill Masterson, both of whom helped develop Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy. LeBron is a known cartoon far, and has been featured in several MacFarlane videos. The series, which will also be aired on, will offer positive messages aimed at young viewers, but it will be interesting to see if LeBron's real life on-court issues are referenced, and what role his high profile sponsors will play.
