"Listen," Ray Lewis, the ever intense Baltimore Ravens linebacker, instructs. "Do you hear that? Footsteps." So begins the new commercial from Under Armour, a frenetically paced clip that intercuts footage of lions on the prowl with athletes hard at work, while an insistent drumbeat marches toward its impending crescendo. Those athletes, including Tom Brady and Cam Newton, have been enlisted in Under Armour's biggest footwear campaign to date. The "Footsteps" spot showcases the Micro G Split and Charge RC models, both of which feature the brand's sweat-wicking material traditionally used on their athletic apparel. Directed by Peter Berg of Friday Night Lights fame, Under Armour has commissioned the ad to be a steady presence on primetime TV. Near the end of the clip, Ray Lewis asks again "Do you hear footsteps? Or are they hearing yours?" He could just as easily be referring to the footwear heavyweights that Under Armour has in its sights. Check out an extended version of the pulse-quickening video after the jump.
