In the effort of courting fans from what could be the world’s largest basketball market, Nike Basketball included LeBron James as the last of its player to go on tour this Summer within the Greater China region. The 4-city venue kicked yesterday afternoon at the base of Taipei 101 landmark in Taipei World Trade Center. With the newly unveiled “Use Sports…” adage, LeBron rallied 2 groups of talented individuals in 2 separate training sessions. First for youths from Taiwan’s Eden Social Welfare Foundation, a charitable foundation that serves handicapped and disables. Followed by another gathering, this time with members of Chinese Taipei U-19 National Team. Just came off from their first U-19 World Championship appearance, the team applied what they learned in a series of drills and mini contests. At the end, a chosen MVP from each of the groups got to take home an autographed basketball as prize.
The LeBron James Basketball Tour 2011 will span 4 different destinations in a period of 8 days with Chengdu as the next place of venue. Sometime next week, the tour will end up in Shanghai where it will amalgamate with festivities from Nike Festival of Sports.
