To call the new Carhartt WIP Collection Lookbook “hauntingly beautiful” might be an overly simplistic description. Created by German photographer/videographer Alexander Basile, who realized a textual imprint to his images with an unique creative process – video taping 5 hours of footage on VHS format before rendering each select scene into a still image. The outcome is one of tactile sensibility where the grainy attributes on each photo provide a place and time within the viewer’s memories. But one other curious characteristic is the feel of impairment, of a task at hand long from finish. Perhaps, its Basile’s way, subconsciously, in demonstrating the notion of WIP or Work In Progress. The Carhartt WIP Fall/Winter 2011 Collection is now available at Carhartt WIP retail locations and its own online store.
