Leica presents a video portrait of photographer Jonathan Mannion. The breadth of his work can be summed up in something DJ Quik once said to the Ohio native: "The world sees hip hop through your eyes." Having worked with famed photographer Richard Avedon during his first year out of school, Mannion was able to use that experience in establishing his own presence in the world of music -- something he was drawn to since his days as a college DJ, and even earlier as a teenager in love with the hip hop genre. His career took off after photographing Jay-Z for his 1996 album Reasonable Doubt. That relationship acted as a springboard for later projects involving a myriad of hip hop artists, as well as personalities from the world of sports and pop culture: Biggie, Lil Wayne, Cash Money, Eminem, Drake, Lance Armstrong, LeBron James, David Beckham and countless others. Despite an impressive catalog of work, Mannion remains humble. "I'm just a messenger," he says, "And I've been given a talent to document an extremely important era of music history." Click through to view the captivating video.
