London has had a solid streetwear scene for decades, with roots all the way back to the casual/hooligan culture of the 1980's. And while that era laid the groundwork for some big names in European streetwear (think labels like Silas, CP Company, and modern-day favorite Stone Island), it seems London is having a modern-day revitalization of the scene, with the opening of a flagship Supreme door just last September, and events like the New Era Introducing: London Gallery Launch. The event echoes the New Era XC series, which visited London earlier this Summer. New Era Introducing follows a similar format: bringing some of the best up-and-coming design talent, from around the globe, together to compete and collaborate using the venerable 5150 fitted cap as a canvas. This event was "won" by Lina Al Amoudi, the Dubai-based visual artist. Other notable entries came from Krakow-born Mateusz Sypien, and native Londers Alis Pelleschi and Oscar Medley-Whitfield. The designs were all showcased at Shoreditch Underground, on Pedley St, E1 5EW, but next up is Milan, where the event will be held on November 18th and 19th. Check out the video recap after the jump, check out the Introducing site for full details, and stay tuned here for the next installment.
