From 1967 to 1970, Toyota only produced 351 2000GT sports cars, which were quickly seen as a very curvaceous alternative to the speed coming out of the United States and Europe. Well, we can now make that 352 with the launch of the Toyota 2000GT SEV electric concept car launched in front of a large crowd at the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon. The 2000GT SEV was designed by the Crazy Car Project under the direction of the Toyota Automobile Association, where the revived sportscar received a 21st century power upgrade capable of running off of solar power. Back in the 60's the 2000GT flaunted a 2-liter straight-six, 150hp DOHC engine that worked smoothly with its 5-speed manual transmission and 4-wheel disc brakes. The 2000GT SEV will retain its sexy exterior, but, internally, the transformation is drastic: there will be an electric motor running underneath the hood drawing power from on-board lithium ion batteries that are recharged through solar energy panels integrated into the hood and  black glass. Inside the cockpit, the 2000GT SEV features upgraded gadgets, including toys from Panasonic, JBL, and Gentex. Get another look at this blast from the past after the jump. via: Autoblog
