The 2012 Presidential Election is still seven months away, yet most political pundits will tell that this particular campaign season might just be the most contentious if not the most costly one. And while he might be trailing in the polls at certain portion of the Union, the Commander-In-Chief has plenty of supporters as well, from a special pair of Jordan Spiz'ike from Spike Lee to this New Balance from Maine. In part to thank but also to remind him of America's manufacturing sector, US Representative Michael Michaud of Maine asked New Balance's Norridgewock plant to customize a pair of New Balance 990 for President Barack Obama. Embellished with "President Obama" around the heel and "Handmade in the United States" on the heel tab, Rep. Michaud will make the case that military footwears and training gears should be "Made in the USA". In a brief statement, the the Congressman wrote:
The workers in Norridgewock produced a pair of high-quality sneakers, and I'm looking forward to delivering this Maine-made product to the President tonight. I'm hopeful he'll order the DOD to buy sneakers made in the USA for our servicemembers' physical training uniforms. They'll get great sneakers, and we'll be better positioned to create more Maine jobs.
