At the start of this year's French Open on Sunday, look for UNIQLO to join the rank and file of sportswear labels. During a press conference at Paris' Hotel Ritz earlier today, the Japanese apparel giant announced it signed a five-year deal with Novak Djokovic, the current #1 tennis player in the world. Already staked claims to championship titles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open, the clay courts of Roland Garros are the last in the Grand Slam tournaments Djokovic has yet to conquer. However, with this new sponsorship, the Serbian pro is looking forward to the challenge. And while no details on agreement are available at this time, Djokovic stated during the press conference that he will have design inputs in the collection. As for UNIQLO and its parent company, Fast Retailing, the new deal is another step for it to gain worldwide exposure.
