There's nothing like high demand for a vehicle to inspire a car manufacturer to extend production of a model, which is exactly what the Britain-based Land Rover is doing with their Defender - plus a few more rugged bells and whistles. Although roughly the same as the 2011 X-Tech Edition we previewed last year, the 2012 model picks up a few new features allowing LR to add "Special" to its name, including two new unique exterior colors, Orkney Grey and Nara Bronze, as well as a new black roof, 16-inch alloy wheels, wheel arches, and headlamp surrounds. On the interior, LR's logo is embossed on black leather seats with a dash cover that matches the outside. The Defender is also available in a 90 Hard Top and 110 Utility Wagon, both with a 2.2-liter diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission capable of producing 260 lb-ft of torque for all your off-roading and towing needs. The 2012 X-Tech Special Edition has already begun to arrive at dealers in the UK this month. via: CarScoop
