High-end compact cameras are enjoying a renewed spike in interest this year, a trend that looks to be transitioning into something with true staying power with Panasonic's latest offering, the Lumix LX7. Packing a redesigned 24-90mm f/1.4-2.3 lens, 3.8x optical zoom, and a 1/1/7-inch 10-megapixel MOS sensor, the LX7's redesigned lens, sensor, and Venus Engine image processor combine to increase low-light shots and reduce the signal-to-noise ratio that gives both pro's and at-home players improved picture clarity. Panasonic has also added a top-mounted stereo mic to the camera, offers the brand's fast autofocus system, and comes with a range of quick-access buttons, settings, and locks on the control panels. The camera shoots in RAW and RAW+JPEG and also gives you the option of 1080p video recording. Pricing and launch date information hasn't been announced yet, but you can expect this to hit the shelves in late summer.
