Originally set for the July 23rd - July 24th global announcement, this leak by Japanese blog Digicame put everything in motion this morning and soon the Internet was a-buzzed with activity. The reason? The leaked subject was the Canon EOS M with a new EF-M lens mount, the company's very first mirrorless camera system. The last holdouts among the world's leading camera manufacturers, it was rumored for quite a while that Canon was working on its own mirrorless system. Its entry to market is quite late, especially after the likes Panasonic and Olympus Micro Three-Third, Fujifilm X-Pro1, Sony Alpha NEX, or even the Nikon 1 system have dominated the market for years. However, it was reported that Canon might use its new 1.5-inch image sensor (found on its PowerShot G1 X) or even a APS-C size one, on the new system. Making it larger than most of its competitors and put the camera squarely in the "Prosumer" product range. Now, we all just have to wait till Monday for the official introduction to learn about this new development. via: Digicame//Canon Rumor
