Porsche 918 Spyder Prototype

Since its debut at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, Porsche has never been coy about their latest hybrid supercar, the 918 Spyder Prototype. Unlike other cutting-edge vehicle designs, Porsche has been excited to show off the curves and power of this plug-in hybrid-electric by giving test drives, opening it up to media attention, and now dressing its carbon fiber reinforced polymer body up in classic Martini colors that take us back to the #22 917 LH that won that 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1971 (clearly more exciting and flattering than the digital camo that typically coats protoypes). Set for production next September, the 918 will come with two electric motors on each axle and a turbocharged V-8 engine, a combination that produces 770-hp, a zero-to-60 under 3 seconds, and a 70+ mpg fuel economy. Of course, all that power comes with a price; expect to see its sticker price close to $1 million for each of the 918 that will be built. Worth every penny. via: Autoblog
