The Weinstein Company has released the official trailer for the highly anticipated film Killing Them Softly, a project that reteams Brad Pitt with director Andrew Dominik, who previously worked together on 2007's The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. An adaption of George V. Higgins' 1947 crime novel Cogan's Trade, the screen version moves the story from Boston to New Orleans circa 2008. The trailer depicts a pair of low-rent crooks holding up a card game arranged by Ray Liotta's crime boss character, who then hires hit man Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt) to dispatch the thieving duo. It's all set to Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around," upping the gritty flavor of the proceedings. Also starring James Gandolfini, Sam Shepard, Richard Jenkins, Scoot McNairy and Ben Mendelsohn, Killing Them Softly is scheduled to open in theaters October 19th. Check out the trailer below.
