The promise of peace and tranquility afforded by kayaking in open waters ends as soon as you're back on dry land, and you're forced to lug your unwieldy paddle boat back to your car and strap it atop the roof. Enter the Oru Kayak, a foldable kayak created by San Francisco-based designer Anton Willis that can be assembled in mere minutes from a suitcase-sized box to a 12-foot-long, 25-pound seafaring vessel. The world's first origami kayak is made from lightweight corrugated plastic and is expected to retail for $500. Head over to the Oru site to join the mailing list for launch notification, and check out the assembly process in the video below. via: Gear Patrol
