Right in between Justin Bieber vomiting on stage and Lindsay Lohan's latest altercation in New York City came this surprising celebrity update - the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences picked animator Seth MacFarlane to be the host of its 2013 Academy Awards presentation. Best known for his comical animated series Family Guy, American Dad!, and The Cleveland Show, MacFarlane made his directorial debut of a live-action film earlier this year with Ted. Co-wrote, produced, and voiced by MacFarlane as well, the comedy with Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and Ted, the much alive stuffed teddy bear, made just over $420 million dollars in box office proceeds worldwide, the 9th most profitable film of 2012 thus far. Its success also brought MacFarlane to the Academy Awards' attention. Best known as the Oscars, the 85th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, February 24th of next year. In his usual off beat humor, MacFarlane made a video with his father in announcing the news.
