Anyone will tell you that Hollywood operates under a different set of rules. Even after Dredd 3D's disastrous opening at the box office last month, studio execs are still pouring money into genres relating to superheroes, remakes, comic book and video game titles. Already, New Regency has announced plans to create a live-action version of the Assassin's Creed gaming franchise, with actor Michael Fassbender as the lead. On a positive note, these genres will get a boost in Spring 2014 when the newRoboCop film arrives in theaters. Indeed, it will be another remake of a 90s' sci-fi classic. However, from these behind-the-scene images during filming in Toronto, the new RoboCop may not suffer the fate of other recent remakes. High-tech props and cool armor suit aside, Brazilian director José Padilha will be at the helm with Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy/RoboCop and a supporting cast that consists of Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel, Michael Keaton, and even Gary Oldman, who played Commissioner Gordon in the recent The Dark Knight/Batman trilogy. The new RoboCop is due out on February 7th, 2014.
