San Francisco's ShoeBiz has teamed up with Converse once again for the second round of the Chuck Taylor All Star City Collection, featuring Halloween-themed artwork by Bay Area artists Alán González and Kris Mestizo. González, originally from Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, now resides in San Francisco, producing artwork within a vast number of different mediums, including ceramics, printmaking, screen-printing, sculpture, graphic design, video, web design and photography. His Chucks are inspired by ads for X-ray glasses in his childhood Boy Scouts catalogs, featuring a black canvas base adorned with a skeletal foot. Kris Mestizo was exposed to the art world through his father Michael Nieto at the age of 5, finding inspiration for his work through the distinct architecture and colors of his native San Francisco. Mestizo's design gives the nod to the Mummy, a favorite costume from his childhood. Both pairs are slated to launch at ShoeBiz stores on October 26th, with 100% of the project earnings going to Youth Against Poverty and Compass Family Services, both helping homeless, drug-free, working families in San Francisco.
