If you happen to tune into an Oklahoma City Thunder postgame press conference, there's a chance that you'll observe Kevin Durant with backpack strapped tight across his shoulders and chest. It turns out the carryall is not the sort of nerdist affect that's taken hold of many superstars in the NBA -- i.e., bow ties and chunky-framed prescription-free eyeglasses -- as Durant insists his backpack is no mere fashion accessory. "Since I was seven years old, I've always been attached to my backpack," Durant asserts. "It represents the hard work I learned from my family, and it will always remind me of my journey to get to where I am." So, to paraphrase Brad Pitt from "Se7en," what's in the bag? "Those who know me know I like to keep it simple," Durant says. "I carry three key things in my backpack -- my headphones, Bible and chargers. Sometimes my shoes, socks, ball, iPad and water are also along for the ride."
Soon, Durant's fans will have the opportunity to haul their own gear in Kevin Durant's backpack. The Nike KD Hoops Elite Ball Backpack is crafted from water-resistant ripstop nylon, featuring padded adjustable shoulder straps and a zippered main compartment big enough to carry a basketball. Additionally, an internal organization panel has a lined pocket with zippered closure for small items and accessories.
