As BMW retires its 3 Series coupe, the German automaker has unveiled images of a concept version of the replacement model, the 4 Series coupe. The design clearly builds on the sleek lines of the latest generation 3 Series, featuring a wheelbase lengthened by almost two inches, and front and rear tracks wider by 1.7 inches. The new headlights and taillights are unique to the 4 series, and the front fascia is lowered and more aggressively styled. The interior is decked in premium leather (even the cupholders are lined with leather) and luxurious wood trim. BMW hasn’t divulged specific powertrain lineups, but it’s expected that the base 428i will have the sedan’s 2-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, while the the faster 435i will likely have BMW’s 3-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. Both variations are expected to be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual. Check out multiple images in the gallery below.
