Before Louis Vuitton tapped American fashion designer Marc Jacobs to be its creative director, it was rare for the venerable luxury brand to take on a collaborative project. That all changed when the art/fashion publication VISIONAIRE came calling in 1996. What became of the partnership was VISIONAIRE 18: Fashion Special, a special "bookzine" that featured exclusive prints from Jurgen Teller, Mario Testino, Terry Richardson, as well the year's collections by Prada, Chanel, Helmut Lang, and more. One other factor that made the issue "special" was its Louis Vuitton monogrammed leather portfolio, and even at the price of $5,000 each, all 2,500 units were gone in no time. Never fret, however, since online boutique MR. PORTER was able to secured one for sale, some 16 years later. New and in mint condition, it bears a hand written number "239" out of the 2,500 made. This highly collectable item is now available at MR. PORTER online store for the price of $6.600.
