Hailed by some as the great American novel, F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby first made its way to the big screen in 1974, quickly falling under the crushing weight of expectations, as well as a curiously wooden performance by Robert Redford in the titular role. As the following trailer shows, the 2013 version, directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the millionaire Jay Gatsby, is fairly bursting with color and emotion, expertly capturing the manic Zeitgeist of the Roaring '20s. Along with DiCaprio, the 3-D film stars Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway and Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan. Gatsby's symbolic green light registers an appearance as well, glowing bright enough to suggest nuclear radiation, let alone a vague sense of optimism. Released by Warner Bros., The Greaty Gatsby is expected to hit theaters May 10th, 2013. Check out the film's second official trailer below.
