These preliminary sketches depict the expansion of Italy's 10 Corso Como into China, with the opening of a 27,000-square-foot multi-brand boutique in Shanghai scheduled for fall 2013. Founded in 1990 by former fashion publisher Carla Sozzani, 10 Corso Como pioneered the concept shop, promoting "lifestyle over object acquisition" and the notion of slow shopping. In order to bring its unique retail philosophy to the East, 10CC partnered with China's Trendy International Group, a design and distribution firm that commands 2,000 retail outlets. The move is yet another indicator of China's growth, with a current fashion market north of $60 billion and a no. 2 ranking in the worldwide luxury market. The store itself will be designed by world renowned artist Kris Ruhs, opening on Nanjing Road West, the epicenter of Shanghai's upscale fashion scene.
