Following yesterday’s unveiling of 2013 NBA All-Star Game Collection from Nike Basketball, its brethren at Nike Sportswear previewed earlier today its footwear line for the upcoming venue. Taken its name from “Area 72,” a supposed top-secret facility operated by the fictional Nike Space Program (NSP) just outside of Houston, Texas, the collection continues on the wildly popular extraterrestrial design theme. Similar to last year’s riot-inducing All-Star Game collection, Nike Sportswear will be merging outer-worldly design features, such as glow-in-the-dark outsole and custom galaxy print, onto five classic models – Nike Blazer Mid, Nike Vandal, Nike Lunar Force 1, Nike Barkley Posite Max and Nike Air Force Max 2013. In addition, Nike will be using the occasion to re-introduce its Nike Raygun caricature, the jetpack quipped alien specter that appeared on Nike Basketball’s footwear more than a decade ago.
The top-secret Nike Sportswear “Area 72” Collection for 2013 NBA All-Star Game will be available through select Nike retailers starting on Friday, February 14th.
