Even the usually jaded residents of South Beach were stunned by Lamborghini's exploit yesterday as the supercar manufacturer kicked off a 10-day event. One was to celebrate Lamborghini's 50th Anniversary and second was to unveil the Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster, Lamborghini's newest model. Along side Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini, and Jerry Libbin, Miami Beach Commissioner, a 40-car parade drove down Collins Avenue for what could be the most expensive motorcade in Miami. Then it was onward to runway of Miami International Airport where 12 Aventador Roadsters roamed freely for a high-speed demonstration, a first time where the airport closed its runway for an automotive event. The demonstration also marked another first when five of the test runs reached a speed 170+ mph, well in view of passenger jets that flew by.
