The very first design for then newly established Jordan Brand, the Air Jordan XIII was a groundbreaking design for the label and veteran designer Tinker Hatfield. Based on the central design theme of a panther/black cat, the AJ13 had a high-tech fabric upper to provide ample ventilation yet rugged enough for common wear & tear around the court. The appointment of a Zoom Air cushion sole reduced the shoe's overall weight while a carbon fiber plate stiffen its support. But the most memorable takeaway feature of the design would be its greenish hologram emblem, a symbolical element which represented a panther's eye.
Now as part of Jordan Brand February 2013 Collection, the "black cat" is back, this time in a Squadron Blue colorway with Electric Yellow and Black accents. Set to be available at all Jordan Brand retail locations this Saturday, February 9th.
