From his earlier works with Burton Japan, fragment design, LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD, to the new Heather Grey Wall retail concept and most recently as the creative lead for CASH CA‘s menswear collection, none has solidify Japanese designer Kazuki Kuraishi’s role in the current fashion scene than his collaboration with adidas Originals. A fact highlighted by their new collection, Retrograde Resistance 84-Lab, which brilliantly juxtaposed adidas’ athletic designs with Kuraishi’s streetwear sensibilities in the forms of sportswear apparel and footwear. Inspired in part by classic sports such soccer, polo, equestrian, with outdoor functions like hunting and mountaineering, Kuraishi carefully choreographed each theme into the design without overwhleming the general concept behind it.
The new Retrograde Resistance 84-Lab Collection is now available at select adidas retailers worldwide. In the meantime, get a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse at the process through which the collection’s Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook was put together.
