Following the unveiling of a spate of production stills from The Wolverine, 20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for the X-Men spinoff. The film, loosely based on the 1980s comic book mini-series from writer Chris Claremont and artist Frank Miller, finds Logan in Japan, where he encounters an old man who owes him a debt. The stranger offers Logan a chance to "end his eternity" by ridding him of his mutant self-healing powers. Later, following a fight with Yakuza henchmen, Logan discovers he isn't healing, seemingly indicating that he has indeed become mortal. The dark undercurrent of the trailer is shot through with plenty of action, including a sequence in which Wolverine takes flight atop a speeding bullet train. Check out the international trailer below, and look for The Wolverine to hit theaters July 26th.
