While Reebok tried to regain its footing within the American and European marketplace during the 1990s, the label had no such issue in Japan thanks largely to the unique projects it took on such as collaborations. And even though the company is now part of adidas Group, collaborative projects like this one with Tokyo's mita sneakers still matters, especially in the realm of new ideas and creativity. Billed as "Leopard Microdot", this latest mita sneakers design features a tonal leopard pattern within the exterior panelings of a Reebok Insta Pump Fury. Each imprinted in such way that one can only see it at an angle. To fully explore the concept of "mashup" design, mita sneakers also added a series of glow-in-the-dark micro polka dots throughout. On the inside, the sockliner with "chain link" print is in reference to mita sneakers' Ueno store, which utilized chain link fence as partition.
But the focus wasn't just on appearance alone. Its entire upper is of a water repellant construct, a way to counter Tokyo's rainy spring season. Slated for release this Saturday, April 6th, available exclusively at Tokyo's mita sneakers in Ueno.
