INSIDE OUT is described as the biggest participatory art project in the world, and now it's also the name of a documentary film that premiered days ago at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. Director Alastair Siddons followed JR as he developed the project, originally announced in 2011 when the French artist took to the stage to describe his TED Prize wish: inspiring thousands of people across the globe to transform their personal identities into public artwork. The result was INSIDE OUT, in which ordinary citizens used 120,000 digital portraits to fashion bold, oversized posters that covered everything from city walls to trains. Check out the trailer below, and look for the film to air on HBO on May 20th.
