In its standard Clark Kent mode, the Renault Twizy is a small electric car with tandem seating for two, powered by a 17-horsepower motor capable of a top speed of 53 miles per hour. Renault decided to give the vehicle a superheroic makeover with the help of its Formula 1 team, resulting in the Twizy Renault Sport F1 concept seen here. The car sits on the wheels of a Formula Renault 2.0 race car, featuring carbon-fiber side pods, front splitter and a giant rear wing, as well as a steering wheel borrowed from a Formula 3.5 Renault. In terms of performance, Renault's Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), used in the automaker's F1 cars, boosts power almost six-fold, producing 97 horsepower in 13-second bursts while raising the top speed to 68 miles per hour. The Twizy Renault Sport F1 concept car will be shown at major events this year, beginning with its first public appearance at the World Series by Renault race in Aragon, Spain, this weekend.
