Known for his crazy on-stage presence, creativity behind the camera, and passion for his causes, friends and family of late Beastie Boy Adam ' MCA' Yauch chose to mark the anniversary of his passing with the dedication of a quiet, small playground and park, just blocks from his own childhood home in Brooklyn Heights. In addition to messages and dedications from his old friend and Beasties co-founder Adam Horovitz, his mother, and other friends and family, fans from far and wide came to see Palmetto Playground officially become Adam Yauch park this past Saturday. Although nothing will fill the gigantic shoes left behind after his passing, steps like this and the upcoming Beastie Boys memoir will help us to better remember a man that, as Yauch put it, "...for a Brooklyn boy and king of sound -- best of the best, pound for pound."
