Tiger Woods certainly looked like the Tiger of old yesterday, winning the Players Championship with a series of big shots down the stretch. It was his 78th PGA Tour career victory, and his fourth win in seven tournament starts in 2013. “I feel like I’m getting better as the year’s going on,” Tiger observed, “which is nice.” As always, Nike has been there to equip Tiger with the gear he needs as he continues the once-again upward trajectory of his career. He debuted his signature Nike TW’14 shoe over the weekend, developed by Nike with direct input from Tiger himself. The upper features improved ventilation through strategically placed perforations and mesh tongue, while the Nike Free-inspired outsole is designed to mimic and conform to the natural movement of the foot, allowing longer contact with the ground. The upshot: better harnessing of energy of the foot to the shoe. The Nike TW’14 is set to launch in an introductory Black/Reflective Silver – Varsity Red colorway starting June 7th. It will also be the first Nike Golf shoe on NIKEiD, previewing on the Nike customization site starting May 20th, followed by an official launch also on June 7th.
