David Beckham to Retire From Soccer After Paris Saint-Germain Season

Known just as much off the pitch for his barely-clad modeling shots, savvy marketing skills, and marriage to a Spice Girl as he was for his laser-like free kicks, leadership of the English national team, and devastating vision of play, David Beckham is officially hanging up his boots at then of this season. With the conclusion of the Paris St.-Germain season, which added a French league championship to the many he won with his hometown Manchester United, in Spain with Real Madrid, and in the MLS with the Los Angeles Galaxy, Beckham has, as he put it, truly lived his boyhood fantasy. Giving a look into this footballing future, Beckham will continue to serve as an ambassador for growing soccer in China as well as joining the staff of PSG in a player/coach liaison role, but rumors are also swarming about his interest in team ownership in the MLS. With the retirement of Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson last week and now this news, it looks as though a new day is officially rising in English football, but you can bet your entire sneaker collection that Beckham will not be far from the spotlight. Au revoir.
