Families throughout Moore, Oklahoma, which sits not far south of Oklahoma City and the home of the Thunder, are pleading for miracles to help find a way forward. While nothing will truly replace what was lost or fully heal the victims, there are still big things we can do to help. One big man, Kevin Durant, is doing his part, donating $1 million to the American Red Cross to assist with disaster relief efforts in the wake of the tornado that swept through the area on Monday, killing at least 24 people and injuring hundreds of others. Durant has called OKC home for over 5 years and, through his Kevin Durant Family Foundation, has raised money to support after-school, summer, and single parent programs for the community that has helped him to be named the runner up to LeBron for the 2013 MVP award. In other words, this level of generosity is nothing new for KD. We can all do our part, too, by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999 for a $10 donation.
