Having set out to build the world's greatest compact electric vehicle, Oregon-based Works Electric is set to debut the Rover, an electric scooter that's billed to be "fun, safe, and easy to operate." Hand-built in Portland with lightweight aluminum construction, the Rover has a maximum range of 36 miles and a top speed of 33 miles per hour. Additional features include smartphone cradle with USB charger, LED headlights and taillights, and a fluid-free/emission-free design that allows the scooter to be stored safely indoors. Works Electric claims the Rover has the highest power to weight ratio of any vehicle in its class, along with battery regenerating brakes that help to deliver a fuel economy rated at 606 MPGe. Delivery of the Rover is scheduled to begin in Fall 2013.
